Up first at this show were two Atlanta locals: Left Unsaid and Irreversible. Irreversible played a progressive brand of hardcore and it came across pretty well live. The band had a decent amount of energy, but ultimately failed to move the crowd. After a short set, Left Unsaid took the stage. Left Unsaid blasted through their set with a few slip-ups, but with plenty of passion. The crowd started to loosen up after Left Unsaid's set.

Anchors Away took the stage and were received quite well by the crowd. The band was here in Atlanta about two weeks prior to this show with Guns Up! and Kids Like Us, so most of the kids were pretty familiar with the band. Anchors Away is from Florida, I believe features a member of Casey Jones, and is obviously good friends with Kids Like Us. The band played their speedy hardcore quite nicely and were good dudes when I talked to them after the show.

The skate music proceeded to take over next. ANS, a punk band who's all about skateboarding, took the stage next. The band played a technical style of punk rock and you could tell the guys' hearts were all in it. I talked with the singer and he was just a down-to-earth guy who loves skating and playing music. The band played a pretty long set consisting of fast and technical punk rock with a Suicidal Tendencies cover thrown in for good measure.

If you know anything about skateboarding, you could tell from the band's name that Bones Brigade collectively likes to skate. The band plays some old school skater punk with crazy shredding solos thrown in most songs. Playing a long set covering most of their well-known releases, Bones Brigade put on a great show and even covered a Slayer song for fun. The vocalist's constant "stop standing still and start moving" banter began to get annoying when he did it every time he wasn't singing. All in all, I heard "Thrashin' USA" and "I Hate Myself When I'm Not Skateboarding," so I was happy.

And of course, one of my favorite current hardcore bands was up next. As always, Kids Like Us played a super energetic set full of old favorites and a few off their brand new release, Outta Control. The crowd seemed to know the new songs as well as the old ones and it made for a great set. Every time I've seen the band they've put on a great show and have packed all their energy into it. Of course, the The 80s Are Dead album closer, "Meet Me At The Swingset," was saved for last and the "Get the fuck out, grow the fuck up" chant brought on a massive pile-on to end out the night.

I scored a few 7"s and a shirt or two. Seeing one of my favorite bands for the 3rd time and a few new bands of a different style than I normally listen to made for a good show. Now go skate!
