Where It Ends is a straight edge hardcore band straight out of Columbia, South Carolina. These guys have been around for a few years now and this is their demo from 2004. It contains five songs of heavy hardcore. Where It Ends has also recorded a few songs since releasing this, but they haven't yet been properly released.
Where It Ends plays a heavier style of hardcore that's similar to No Warning, Strife, and Madball. These guys aren't breaking any new ground, but they are playing with sheer heart and passion. I know from personal experience how much hardcore means to these guys. A glance at some lyrics, such as "How can we thrive as a scene when all we do is pit ourselves against one another?" show the positive attitude that Where It Ends promotes. Every hardcore kid can relate to this, as negativity and tough-guy bullshit are growing problems within hardcore scenes everywhere.
On the music side of things, the demo contains mostly mid-paced, heavy passages. For some variety, melodic chord progressions and beefy riffing can be found throughout the demo. The newer songs showcase a little more creative songwriting and the band's heavier side in a more original way. Where It Ends definitely has the talent to write a great, heavy song without drifting toward tough-guy, mosh-oriented metal.
Basically, Where It Ends are a no-bullshit, straight edge hardcore band. They won't preach to you their beliefs, they won't bombard you with breakdowns. They will put on a great show if you get to see them, and this demo is only a small insight into what this band can do. Already, the band's newest songs, which can be heard here, show the band's improved songwriting and higher quality recordings.
