"Endless" was probably my single favorite song of the 2002 summer. The "Endless" EP has gone through a problem or two, initially to be released as a split with Liar, who eventually backed out of the deal. "Endless" has finally hit, though, and it may only be four songs, but these four songs display the phenomenon that is Unearth. The slightly more metallic sound that Unearth has adopted is a wonderful fit, and this EP will surely have listeners drawing blood.

"Endless," the title track, was released late in the spring of 2002, so fans have had a crushing tune to tide them over, but this song is so heavy and relentless that it makes anyone yearn for more. Each chorus comes in the form of a brutal breakdown, with screams of "Endless fight!" and one crusher of a breakdown to finish the song off. I couldn't count the number of times I have listened to this song if I had fingers upon my fingers, but it hasn't grown old, and neither has the remainder of this album. "Internal War" delves deeper into the metallic tendancies of Unearth, with the characteristic quick drumming and complex guitar work, but is only completed by some chunky guitar riffs and breakdowns. Three of the four tracks are new songs, while the fourth track is an pre-"Stings Of Conscience" recording of "My Desire." It doesn't sound as polished, but the raw quality actually gives it some more energy.

There isn't a ton to say about "Endless," which is a shame, because it is so impressive. A review won't do this album justice, the only thing you can do is snag this EP as soon as possible, and surely, this material will be absolutely astounding in a live setting. Unearth has provided us with just a hint of the masterpiece they can create, and "Endless" has me waiting anxiously for a longer recording. Essential.
