After much deliberation, Codeseven's new effort, Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds, takes the honor of featured release. As is noted here and elsewhere, Codeseven is a heavily reformed band since their early releases. Their new material showcases further development and involvement in lush, atmospheric rock. The band, while always daring, pushed for experimentation on Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds, and the results are entirely positive. The album flows through stages, from bright, cheerful dreamscapes to dark, grimy entrenches. Along the way, the band builds expansive songs, lulls with endearing, melodic singing and creatively involves a wide variety of instruments. Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds is relaxed, but fully captivating. |
