Hardcore and punk rock bands have dominated my musical consumption over the past six months or so. My interest in melodic death metal is anything but gone, but relatively few bands have found their way into my stereo and gripped my attention like Arsis has. Arsis has unleashed an album that is vicious in every sense of the word, loaded to the point of explosion with innovative, memorable guitar riffs and mind-numbingly precise percussion. While the content is melodic, it's also completely unforgiving and consistently aggressive. "A Celebration Of Guilt" just rips through its entire duration and to think that all of the music presented came from two musicians only makes the album more mind-boggling. Fans of melodic death metal with a touch of black metal should absolutely give Arsis their undivided attention.
