Overlooked is a pissed-off, energized, NYHC-flavored blitz of metallic hardcore. California's Allegiance has a sound that is deeply rooted in traditional hardcore -- it's downright blazing most of the time -- but the band superbly works varying levels of metallic grooves and crunch into each of their songs. It's certainly a done-before style, but Allegiance's take on metallic hardcore is simply more in your face, enthusiastic and memorable than most others'. Overlooked is one of the summer's strongest hardcore records. |
