After struggling to choose between a few records to feature for August, I decided to go with the lesser known of the bunch, Another Breath's "Not Now, Not Ever." Another Breath is a young addition to a growing crop of bands performing hardcore with a traditional foundation and a plethora of modern touches. "Not Now, Not Ever," while generally shredding at breakneck speeds, is injected with everything from tasteful, chunky breakdowns, to melodic chord progressions and picking sequences, to an unexpectedly large number of tempo changes. Although there's quite a bit going on, Another Breath keeps things concise and direct, giving the band the melodic qualities of With Honor and the pure aggression of Give Up The Ghost. Hardcore fans, get busy. |
