About Geekburger.com:

Sometimes I wonder why I keep running this Web site. It’s a job and can be an annoyance. I put some time, be it five minutes or two hours, into Geekburger.com on a daily basis, even when I work an eight-hour day or do eight hours of homework. But two things keep me going: frustration with a bunch of lackluster Web-zines and a love for music.

When I surf other music-oriented Web sites, I get frustrated because so many of them have no sense of dignity or independence. They’re like the tabloids of newspapers. I’m not into that shit, and Geekburger.com is proof that it doesn’t have to be that way. When you read something here, it’s honest and accurate; not copied and pasted from an adjective-overloaded e-mail or press release (and trust me, I’ve gotten enough of those to fill this Web site).

I rely on music. My days practically revolve around listening, and anticipating listening, to it. It only seems fitting that I spend some time putting my thoughts in relation to music into words and, since I have a new-fangled Internet connection, post them online. Geekburger.com generally focuses on aggressive music -- hardcore, metal, punk rock, and anything somehow related -- and features daily news, weekly reviews, a detailed release calendar, occasional show reviews and band features/interviews. If you've got any feedback, want to submit music or want an advertisement placed, please visit the contact page and send me an e-mail or instant message.

Geekburger.com (A Brief History):

Geekburger.com started in January, 2002, as a combination of my short-lived Web log and some low-quality music reviews I wrote for reasons that have since fled my memory. Originally called “Geekcore,” I thought little of the Web site in its early stages. After all, it was hosted on Tripod (remember that service?), got a few hits a day, and existed mainly for the purpose of killing time. I eventually got involved enough to buy a domain name. Unfortunately a fellow genius had already snatched up “Geekcore.” Dang, dude. Second choice? “Geekburger,” of course. And so Geekburger.com came into existence, irrelevantly named after the vicious insult coined by Kimmy Gibler on one of the single most significant family comedies, Full House. If nothing else, it’s memorable.

Over the course of a couple months, I abandoned the Web log thing and put the focus entirely on music. Since then, Geekburger.com has covered a wide spectrum of musical styles, but aggressive music, especially hardcore, metal and punk rock, has always taken the spotlight. That's the stuff we love. The site has seen a number of faces come and go. It started with a lot of blue and a big, cartoon cheeseburger. Then there was the design with a completely oversized picture of Further Seems Forever’s second singer. Today, it’s some sort of light brown, and probably the most functional it’s been. We're posting more reviews and more news than ever before. There’s still room for growth and plenty of expansion, but only time will tell what kind of improvements will be made.
